The 4th in the 2017 Old Drogheda Society's Walk and Talks takes place this evening when Brendan Matthews will lead the walk starting at Drogheda Railway Station at 7.30 pm.

Brendan will speak about the coming of the railway to Drogheda, the building of the Boyne viaduct before crossing the Dublin Road and going up the Poorhouse Lane where he will recall the Great Famine in Drogheda.

He will then be moving to Cromwell's Mount where he will speak on the events of September 1649 that ensured Drogheda's place in world history.

Brendan will give some great insights into the happenings in the area. 

Please meet at 7.25 pm for a departure at 7.30 pm.

There is no set charge for this event but small donations will be accepted for the Old Drogheda Society. Everyone welcome.

Next week Liam Reilly will lead a tour starting from Kierans' Corner ( Garvey's Pub) taking in the history of the Newfoundwell and Scarlet Street areas finishing at Sunday's Gate.
