TK Whitaker Remembered By ODS

Old Drogheda Society

It is with great sadness that the Old Drogheda Society learned of the passing of it's patron, TK Whitaker, on Monday last.

Mr Whitaker was the patron of the Society and also of the John Boyle O'Reilly Summer/Autumn School since it's inception and attended many Old Drogheda Society functions over the years. Despite not being born in Drogheda, having moved to the town from Rostrevor, at the age of six, he always spoke fondly and with great pride of his upbringing in Drogheda' Paradise Place in William Street and his education at St Joseph's CBS.

He had a huge interest in the town's heritage and often cited that a Whitaker had been a bailiff in Drogheda as far back as 1305.

The Old Drogheda Society would like to convey our sincere sympathies to the Whitaker family on their loss.
