James Kane is a descendant of the famous O`Neill Dynasty of Ulster and in this talk he tells the story of the Siege of Drogheda in 1641 by Irish forces under Sir Phelim O’Neill and the Battle of Julianstown. He also deals with the return to Ireland in 1642 of Owen Roe O’Neill (Eoin Rua Ó Néill) who took command of the Irish forces in an attempt to overturn the Plantation of Ulster. The story ends with the arrival of Cromwell and the sack of Drogheda in 1649.
